SERIES SIXTY-SPECIAL FLEETWOOD |
The Sixty-Special Fleetwood sedan was, again, distinguished by chevron slashes of bright metal on the sides of the roof "C" pillars. Also seen were full-length bright metal underscores, clean side styling, a rear end quadrant pattern grille and Cadillac crest medallions towards the back of the rear fenders. Standard equipment included all normal 6300 sub-series features, plus power ventipanes.

SERIES 5700 - FLEETWOOD 75 |
Cadillac's extra-long nine-passenger cars were the only pillared four-door sedans in the line. Standard equipment was the same as on base 6300 models and Series 62 convertibles. Trimmings included a full-length lower beltline molding of a simple, but elegant design. Convertible top-look rooflines and windshields with forward "dog leg" style pillars were 1962 carry-overs seen exclusively on this line.

A more distinguished-looking Biarritz arrived for 1963. The lower body "skeg" lines of 1961-62 were erased on all Cadillac’s, and wide brushed-finish rocker panel moldings gave the Biarritz closer kinship with the svelte Sixty Special. The price remained stable -- a nominal two dollars less than the year before -- and production, though still limited, increased significantly.

Model 6367E, the Eldorado Biarritz convertible, had special styling with untrimmed body sides, full-length stainless steel underscores and a rectangular grid pattern rear decorative grille. Power vent windows, white sidewall tires and six-way power seats (in bench seat mode) were standard in Eldorado's.

Cadillac's long-running V-8 got its first major revision in 14 years for 1963. Bore and stroke were unchanged, as were valves, rocker arms, cylinder heads, compression (still 10.5:1), and connecting rods. But nearly everything else was different: lighter, stronger crankshaft; a stiffer block weighing 50 pounds less than the previous one; ancillaries relocated to improve service access. While all this did little for performance, the revised 390 was much smoother and quieter. Then again, performance was already good. The typical '63 could reach 115-120 mph, do 0-60 mph in 10 seconds, and return about 14 miles per gallon. Most impressive was the near-silence at high speed. In this, many testers held Cadillac superior to Rolls-Royce. Styling departed from recent practice. Fins were lower than ever, the grille was bulkier, new outer body panels and side moldings created a more slab-sided effect, and the rear was more massive, with elongated vertical tail/backup-light housings.

SERIES SIXTY-SPECIAL FLEETWOOD |
The Sixty-Special Fleetwood sedan stood apart in a crowd. It had chevron slash moldings on the rear roof pillar and a distinctly cross-hatched rear deck latch panel grille. Standard equipment comprised all features found on closed cars in the 6300 DeVille sub-series.
